====== Common Error Messages ====== ===== Cannot Locate Network Host ===== You may get a similar message as below shown when trying to connect to a remote Speed-Quote Server program: {{ :public:errors:cannot_locate_network_host.jpg |}} This means that the Speed-Quote Client program cannot communicate with the selected Speed-Quote Server program. There could be 3 reasons why: - The Speed-Quote Server program is not running. Check to make sure the Speed-Quote Server Windows Service is running on the server computer by looking at the Administrative Tools -> Services control panel on the server computer. If it is running, restart it to make sure it is receiving connections properly. - The **HostName** setting is incorrect on the Client computer. The **HostName** is the //Computer Name// or //IP Address// of the computer where the Speed-Quote Server program is running. In the above example the **HostName** is "vmw2k". The **HostName** setting is found under ClientPrefs in the "Apptastic Registry Editor" program. - There is a firewall blocking port 11000 on the server computer. The Speed-Quote Client program communicates with the Speed-Quote Server program using TCP Port 11000 by default. If that port is blocked the above error will be shown. You may need to make an exception in any firewall on the server computer. Please see your firewall manual for details about setting exceptions.
