I've attached an excel 2007/2010 Add-In that you can use to export the data from excel into xml files that Speed-Quote can read. Here are the instructions:
Unzip the files that are attached to this email and save it somewhere that you will remember. It contains the Add-In “.xlam”, as well as a sample Excel file that you had sent me earlier.
To Register the Add-In with Excel
Open Excel
Click the Microsoft Office Button in the top-left corner and then click Excel Options.
Click the Add-Ins category on the left hand side of the window.
In the Manage box, select Excel Add-ins, and then click Go.
In the Add-Ins box that pops up, click Browse and find the “.xlam” file that you had previously unzipped. Select the file and click OK. Make sure that the Add-in name (“SQ-xxxx”) is checked in the Add-Ins popup box and then press OK.
If everything has gone correctly you should now see a “Speed Quote” tab at the end of your Excel Ribbon Control (top of the screen).
To Use the Excel Add-In
The Speed Quote tab will contain 1 button, “Export SQ XML”.
Open a excel data file formatted the same as the example file you sent to be converted.
Select all of the rows that contain data by clicking and/or shift-clicking on the row numbers. Do not select the first header row.
Click the “Export SQ XML” button in the Speed Quote tab.
Excel will ask you for the name of the SpeedQuote Database to import the products into. This is the name of the database as it appears in Speed-Quote
Excel will ask you for a filename to save the xml into.
Excel will export the data to that filename and show “Export Complete” in the status bar on the bottom of Excel when finished.
Importing the XML files into Speed-Quote
Start Speed-Quote & go to the Master Entry Sheet
Open the “Database Management” screen using the icon that looks like a file cabinet.
Click anywhere on the white section and select “Load Database → Import Master Data from XML → All Products”.
Speed-Quote will ask for an xml file to load. Select one of the xml files you exported out of Excel and press OK.
These may seem like a lot of instructions, but once you've done it a few times it will become very simple.
Please let me know if you are having any problems or need any changes.
