How do I change from using a Stand-alone Client to connecting to a Speed-Quote Server

Question:

I have been the only Speed-Quote user in my company and Speed-Quote is only installed on my computer. We have just put Speed-Quote on a new computer for someone else to use and are now going to start using a Speed-Quote server to hold all of the information. The new user cannot see my Master Entry Sheet products or and of my quotes. How can we set Speed-Quote up so we can both share the information?

Answer:

If the Speed-Quote Server has not been installed, download and install the Speed-Quote Server Software and follow the instructions for Server Setup in our online manual: http://www.apptastic.com/manual/index.html

Speed-Quote works in 3 different ways:

  1. Stand-Alone mode - the data and pictures are stored on the computer that has Speed-Quote installed. Only that copy of Speed-Quote can see the data on that computer.
  2. Connected mode - the data and pictures are stored on a Speed-Quote Server computer. Any copy of Speed-Quote that is connected to that Speed-Quote Server can see the data on the Server.
  3. Briefcase mode - Speed-Quote usually acts like it's in Connected Mode, but if the user has to work on the data away from the office (such as at a trade show) Speed-Quote can take a copy of the data to use when it is away from the Speed-Quote Server. When the user gets back to the office and Speed-Quote can talk to the Speed-Quote Server, any changes made while away will be sent back to the Speed-Quote Server.

The way to move your existing information from a Stand-Alone Speed-Quote is to change Speed-Quote to Briefcase mode. Before you do this, please back up
