Setting Defaults

Vendors ask us, “I always quote to John Smith. Why doesn't Speed-Quote set the buyer name to John Smith on Retailer Quotesheet XYZ? It's very tedious to have to type his name for every product.”

We reply, “Speed-Quote translates as much information from the Master Entry Sheet to the Retailer Quote as possible. But information that is specific to one Retailer or Quote sheet does not get automatically filled in. But Speed-Quote has an easy way to add missing information to a Retailer Quote sheet called Setting Defaults.”

When a field is set as a Default any new quotes that are created for the quote sheet template will automatically add the default information onto the new quote. For example, if you set “John Smith” as the default for the Buyer Name field then “John Smith” will be added to every new product that is created with that quotesheet template.

For example:

To set “John Smith” as the default for the buyer name field, you need to:

  1. Create one quote with that Retailer Quote template.
  2. Type “John Smith” into the buyer name field.

  1. Right-Click with your mouse on “John Smith” and select “Set As Default”

The buyer name field will now turn blue showing that it is a default value.

If you have existing products on that quote sheet that you wish to set “John Smith” as the buyer you can Right-Click with your mouse on “John Smith” and select “Use Default→Apply to Selected Products”.

Speed-Quote will give you a list of products from which you can choose to set “John Smith”.
